Washing.

One of the many benefits of wool is that unless it is dirty, you can air it and any residual smell will disappear. Any knitted accessories will not require washing very often and it should not generate any residual smell. If you look after your wool now, it will keep you cosy and warm for many years to come.

It is recommended that you hand wash your woollen scarves, hats or ear-warmers; do not machine wash.

To hand wash, use lukewarm water and a delicate detergent. Gently move the piece in the water, do not rub or agitate the surfaces of the piece. Try to keep the temperature the same at each rinse as to not shock the wool and cause any shrinkage or felting. Once it is rinsed, very gentle squeeze out any excess water. Do not wring the piece. If you need to reshape gently pull out the sides to resemble the original shape. To dry, lie flat on a surface, either a towel or in the airing cupboard away from direct heat. Once dry, press with an iron on a low heat and steam.

Storing.

If you are planning to store your knitwear for a prolonged time, it is recommended to place it in a sealed bag to avoid any unwanted insects or moths getting to your items. To retain the shape of your knitwear store it flat, as hanging it up will result in stretching.

If you feel that your garment has come to the end of it’s life please recycle it, compost it, or return it for us to recycle.
