Our Values

Sustainable.

Our aim is to encourage ethical and sustainable practice to reduce environmental impact at all stages, from design throughout the production process and to packaging.

The Merino wool we use is from the highest quality merino sheep in Beaufont, Tasmania, spun in Tollengo 1900, Italy. Both companies are renown for their environmental stewardship incorporating practices that promote bio-diversity. Highest levels of animal welfare for wool production are applied. Wool is harvested in an ethical manner, in a stress free environment and is non-mulesed.

This extends to our packaging, we source our packing from certified companies who belong to the eco-packaging alliance.

Quality.

A skilful combination of tradition, craftsmanship, luxurious natural fibres and contemporary design creates a quality that is a foundation of our business. Using traditional manufacturing techniques is how we elevate the quality of the natural fibres and is integral to how we create pieces that will retain their unique design perspective for years to come.

Craftsmanship.

Craftsmanship is at the heart of Without Borders Studio. All our knitwear is designed and made in our studio on the edge of the Cotswolds. Every piece is made in the studio using a Dubied machine from the 1960’s that has worked its way through Scottish textile mills and is steeped in knitwear history. The hand process and finishing process ensures the highest quality.

We pride ourself on making high quality, unique pieces that will last you many years.

Connection.

Connection is important to us, connection to the community around us and the environment we live in. For us knitwear instantly makes us feel nostalgic. Warmth. Love. Coziness. A connection to a past or certain moment in time where we felt connected to the people and places around us. That is what knitting gives to us and that is what we aim to give to you through our products.

Unique.

At Without Borders Studio we have a design perspective that is inspired by the world and the people around us. We merge contemporary styles with traditional technique to create an identifiable design handwriting that is unique to us.

Versatile.

Merino wool has intrinsic characteristics that make it one of the most versatile natural fibres. It absorbs moisture from humid environments and lets moisture out into drier environments, perfect for climate control.

It is naturally hypoallergenic, extremely soft (due to the fineness of the fibre), luxurious, naturally elastic, durable and anti-microbial. All these properties make merino wool a hero fibre that elevates our products and makes them suitable for everybody in every environment.
